The SB 1108 Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA) bill was signed into law by Gov. Glenn Youngkin on March 27, 2023. This now makes Virginia the ninth state to approve the KCPA.
You might be wondering, "What is the Kratom Consumer Protection Act?" The KCPA is a law that regulates the manufacturing process and distribution of kratom. It also guarantees that products are properly labeled and enforces age limits. Ultimately, the KCPA ensures that consumers can purchase safe products that have been tested. The bill was first put together by the American Kratom Association (AKA), who has tirelessly worked with lawmakers and representatives to keep consumers safe and get the KCPA passed. In order to purchase kratom in states that have adopted the bill, you must be 21 years of age. In certain states that have not adopted the KCPA, the age limit to purchase kratom can be as young as 18 years old.
